Corrosion Mitigation
Corrosion mitigation provides corrosion protection of underground metallic structures by means of Electrolysis Area Testing as part of our membership in the Victorian Electrolysis Committee and Cathodic Protection Works as part of industry best practice.
Electrolysis Area Testing
In conjunction with the Victorian Electrolysis Committee (VEC) area testing is a coordinated monitoring program of all underground metallic structures in the vicinity of traction substations. Responsibility is to provide data logging services to log pipeline condition and supply reports containing recommendations to reduce the impact of stray current, conducive to corrosion.
Cathodic Protection Works
Protection of underground metallic structures are provided by using sacrificial anodes to provide galvanic protection or by impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) systems.
Regular survey works are undertaken along pipelines and storages to determine the level of corrosive mitigation. Surveys may lead to installation of new monitoring test points, the identification of monitoring improvements, and the installation of new ICCP systems or replacement of sacrificial anodes.
